Visit of the Chairman of the Governing Council of INFOPÊCHE
infopêche : visit of the Chairman Hon. Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani  is on the way and committed  to offer Côte d’Ivoire supporting tools  to  fishery sector. In fact, he has paid working visit to the Intergovernmental Organization for Marketing Information and cooperation Services for fishery products in Africa (INFOPÊCHE)on Wednesday 21st September 2011. Shown off by the members of his Cabinet, Hon.  Adjoumani has taken this opportunity to be aware of the current operating manner of this Organization of Which Côte d’Ivoire is the hosting country. Stating on behalf of the Organization, Mr. El Malagui Mohamed, the Director   expressed his great happiness to receive the Minister before stressing upon the mission of this organization which is aiming at providing marketing information on fishery products, including sales opportunities and supply prospects within and outside Africa. To this aspect must be added advice on technological developments, product specifications, processing methods and quality standards in accordance with market requirement. Training of staff in governments, institutions and the fishing industry in marketing development is also covered by INFOPÊCHE.

REPORT OF THE MINISTERS’ MEETING
Works and recommendations

The Second Extraordinary Session of Governing Council of   the Intergovernmental Organization for Marketing Information and Cooperation services for Fishery Products In Africa, was held on 29 th September 2010 in Abidjan, (Côte d’Ivoire).

  • PARTICIPATION

The representatives of the following member countries such as  Angola, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Kingdom of Morocco, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo have attended the meeting.
Have also attended to the meeting with the quality of observers the following Organizations:

  • Ministerial Conference on Fisheries Cooperation among  the African States bordering the Atlantic Ocean ( ATLAFCO) ;
  • Fishery Committee for the West Central Gulf of Guinea (FCWC).
  • One delegation from  United States of America

The list of the participants is enclosed in annex.

  • OPENING SESSION

The Opening ceremony for this meeting is chaired by his Excellency Dr. DOUATI Alphonse, Minister of Livestock and Fishery Resources of Côte d’Ivoire, Chairman of INFOPËCHE’s Governing Council.

Before the speech of the opening session, three interventions were made   among them we can cite this of the Representative of FAO in Côte d’Ivoire. In this her Speech, she has invited the Direction of INFOPËCHE to have close relationship with FAO   in order to benefit from support for improving its strategy of Communication. 

 

In his Opening speech, the Chairman of INFOPÊCHE’s Governing Council has expressed on behalf of the President of the Republic, his Excellency Laurent GBAGBO and the prime Minister his strong gratitude to each delegation taking part in this current Session.
 He has precised that this extraordinary Session was conveyed owing to the financial crisis encountered by INFOPËCHE and this situation   results   essentially from the arrears of contributions of the member states   threatening the existence of the Organization. He has besides precised that the organization of this Governing Council was an urgent need to seek adequate solution for being out the crisis by taking common decision rapidly. He has reiterated the availability of his Country to meet its commitments as the host country. 
To close his speech, he declared open the second Extraordinary Session of INFOPËCHE‘s Governing Council.
